Fue entrenada como doctora y farmacéutica, y a pesar de que se le prohibió estudiar en la Universidad en Guatemala, realizó sus estudios en Honduras, donde obtuvo su diploma como Medico y Cirujano en 1924 en la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras por parte del Doctor Manuel G. Zúñiga, entonces decano de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas. En 1924 fue la directora del hospital de Danlí y sirvió como consultora de salud también en Danlí.

His birth name was Argentina Bueso Mejía, when he married Porfirio Díaz Lozano, he adopted his two surnames, his work contains elements of late romanticism that has been described as “neoprimitive and poetic at the same time”. Perhaps his best-known book is the Mayapán historical novel, widely translated and with numerous editions. She was the only woman in Central America officially recognized as a candidate for the Nobel Prize for Literature (1970).
